Five Ways To Keep Visitors Coming Back To Your Sites

Whilst it's true you need a good flow of traffic to have a successful and ultimately profitable site, you can dramatically increase your success and sales by make sure your visitors come back time and again.

Returning visitors are easier to convert into paying customers because the more often they return to your site, the more trust they in what you and your site have to say, and promote. Lack of credibility ceases to be an issue when visitors return. So, if you want to get repeat visitors flooding to you site, here are a few tips to help you along:

1) Start a Forum, Chatroom or Shoutbox

When you start a forum, chatroom or shoutbox, you are providing your visitors a place to voice their opinions and interact with their peers -- all of them are visitors of your site. As conversations build up, a sense of community will start to develop and your visitors will come back to your site almost religiously every day to see what is going on.

2) Start a Blog

Blogging has become big business in the last couple of years. A Blog is simply an online journal covering a specifc niche subject. I run The APD Internet Marketing Blog which you can see by clicking on the link text.

An important factor is to update regularly and you can see that this one is updated at least once a day. Human beings are curious creatures and they will keep their eyes glued to the monitor if you post fresh quality content or news frequently. You will also build up your credibility as you are proving to them that there is also a real life person behind the website.

To learn the real inside track have a look at Rob Benwell's excellent Blogging To The Bank.

3) Carry out polls or surveys

Polls and surveys are other forms of interaction that you should definitely consider adding to your site. They provide a quick way for visitors to voice their opinions and to get involved in your website. Be sure to publish polls or surveys that are strongly relevant to the target market of your website to keep them interested to find out about the results.

4) Hold Competitions

This is an interesting one. If you're marketing non-business products and services, competitions for product prizes can be entertaining and a good way to get people to return to your site.

If you're in the B2B (business to business) market such as Internet Marketing you can still use this tool. I tend to ask people for comments and suggestions and I will offer a free eBook or subscription to the suggestion that I think best helps my business. Be creative and have fun with this one!

5) Update frequently with fresh content

Update your site frequently with fresh content so that every time your visitors come back, they will have something new to read on your site. I have said many times on this site..."Content Is King" and it's true (which is why I keep saying it! This is the most widely known and most effective method of making sure your visitors keep coming back for more. Offer outrageous value!

Yes, I know it's tough to keep new and fresh, unique content flowing to your site, but...No one will want to browse a site that doesn't change in months, so keep your site updated with fresh bites!

Before I go, just one last tip. On any email you send out, newsletter or article you publish let people know they can pass it on to someone else who they think might be interested, you'll be surprised!

To *YOUR* success.
